Generalities:
Senile dementia Impairment of cognitive faculties due to chronic degenerative disorders that affect older adults in a significant percentage. The person may suffer from mental confusion, loss of memory, intellectual deterioration, disorientation (spatial, temporal, identity), disturbances in language, visuospatial abnormalities, etc.
Actually, multiple factors that may favor this syndrome are studied: sedentary lifestyle, stress, poor nutrition, poor social life, lack of intellectual challenges, abuse of drugs, toxic or harmful substances such as heavy metals, solvents, chemicals in the home or industrial, agrochemicals, among others.
