Generalities:
Elephantiasisis a syndrome characterized by the enormous enlargement of some parts of the body, especially the lower extremities and the external genital organs. It can be caused by various persistent inflammatory diseases, produced by various spirochetes, treponemes and parasites. This disease is due to the obstruction of lymphatic vessels, and that is why severe inflammation and blood parasites such as filariae result. It also causes bone malformation, which deforms the body as far as the deformation allows.
