Generalities:
Respiratory symptoms: cough, nasal congestion, sneezing, rhinorrhea, odhinitis, pain, malaise, fever.
Bacteria in the form of diplococcus; aerobic, gram negative, oxidase positive. Formerly known as Branhamella catarrhalis, it is widely disseminated in the human population. It causes otitis, bronchitis, larynguitis y sinusitis, in some cases (smokers, immunosuppressed) can even cause pneumonia or COPD.
Transmission:
It is transmitted by respiratory secretions with greater contagion in winter.
