Generalities:

Respiratory symptoms: cough, nasal congestion, sneezing, rhinorrhea, odhinitis, pain, malaise, fever.

Bacteria in the form of diplococcus; aerobic, gram negative, oxidase positive. Formerly known as Branhamella catarrhalis, it is widely disseminated in the human population. It causes otitis, bronchitis, larynguitis sinusitis, in some cases (smokers, immunosuppressed) can even cause pneumonia or COPD.

 

Transmission:

It is transmitted by respiratory secretions with greater contagion in winter.
